After a crap gig in Seattle… a wonderful gig in Eugene!
The W.O.W hall turns out to be a lovely venue (which a whole bunch of kewl bands/people have played in the past – including modest Mouse and Built to Spill and Taj Mahal and Arlo Guthrie). And Stacey and Laura and helpers are really working to get things set up and working – and the catered Thai food is awesome. And Jordan and Kylan really know how to run a very good sound system – where we can really hear everything on stage. And the Eugene queer audience is warm and appreciative. And we really hit it and have a simply great gig – and suddenly Seattle is like “Seattle? Did we play there?”
Afterwards… we move equipment, hang out in the bar, catch JenRO’s set – and then head off for a 80’s costume after-par – but by the time we get there (accompanied by our new Eugene buddies – Caleigh and Mary) it’s over…
The next morning, we have a slow start – with especial difficulty extracting Shawna from the hippy café round the corner – their non-wheat pancakes being a real problem. And then we split up, with Marilyn and Shawna taking the van ahead to Portland, and Tori and Emme doing a Eugene wine tasting trail (with Sara and Ho along for the ride- but quickly getting into the spirit – or vinery?). Bt the time we get to Portland, we’ve bought a few mixed cases of wine between us – and Marilyn and Shawna have become close friends with the Doug Fir bar staff…
